I got the projector wall bracket blues...
Question:

Okay, you're my last hope guys!
looked all around the avforums and here, and not really found the answer to my problem.
I wanna wall mount the AE100 but don't know the best way to go about it for a complete diy novice like meself.
I see some people use them tv and video brackets, putting the panny upside down in the video slot and maybe the dvd player on the tv bit, and some like Masha just put the projector on a tv-only bracket (which to be honest, looks a bit precarious, but I guess both are in reality).
For a total dumbass like myself, what would people recommend? Reason it has to go on the wall is that the room is fairly small and there's no room at all behind the viewing sofa to stick a stand up or owt.

OK, it has to be in-line with either the top or bottom of your screen. Since there's no room behind for a stand, you can mount it high on a wall or ceiling but the projector will definately need to be upside-down for this. Balancing it on a wall TV bracket might be OK but you need to ensure the cables are tied back so that no-one pulls it off the wall by accident.
Not sure where the air vent is on the AE100 but it will definately need clearance.
Personally, I use a Unicol bracket for my projector on the ceiling.... not cheap, but very sturdy and it can be adjusted quite easily.
Hope that helps.

There's a picture of my home made wall bracket in one of the other AE100 threads, basically, it's a pair of shelf brackets fastened upside down to the wall, then a section made of 3 pieces of wood screwed together to form a sideways 'H' shape, the projector is bolted to the wood and the wood then slides onto the prongs of the shelf brackets, with two small screws just to stop it accidentaly sliding off.

Hi,
I use this wall bracket. Unilok 2000SC made by Haropa. This is a speaker bracket and comes as a pair, so I have one available if you want to pay half of what they cost. Let me know if interested.

ps. As far as the projector being close to the wall, I have used a curved piece of plastic to channel the heat to the right of the projector as you look at it, therefore it doesn't just hit the back wall and diffuse.
Cheers
Paul

Hi mate,
Am interested in one of the brackets depending on cost as I'm on a tight budget. :)
Pls LMK how much you're wanting for the other one.
Thanks :)

As I replied to this thread started by Storyweather, I think I have to let him have first chance of my offer. However, if he doesn't want it or does not reply by tomorrow pm, then I will offer it to you. I'm looking to recoup half my outlay which was just short of £26 (with postage costs). So looking for £13 which includes postage.
Cheers
Paul

cheers winnie - seriously considering it and thanks for being such a great sport.
incidentally what's all the electrical gubbins you've got going on behind the PJ to hide all the wires away?

Answers:

Hi,
The "gubbins" are all my cables that I channelled into the wall (solid brick :gag: ). I then chopped in 2 single back boxes, one for the 3 component cables, S-Video and a fish cable for future proofing, the other for the power.
I used a 75p blanking plate which I drilled 2 holes in to feed thru the wires which go to projector.
Quite a tidy job and more importantly the whole set-up has passed the WAF :D
Cheers

ps. Let me know on whether you want the bracket. I forgot to mention that this bracket has a knurled knob at the bottom which you can loosen to allow you to adjust the projector on it's vertical and horizontal axis, making it dead easy to set-up with your screen. and once tightened up it's as solid as a rock !

Thanks buddy, but I'm gonna pass this time - I want to have more clearance from the wall.
Cheers anyways!
