Audio quieter on Sony 1070 amp
Question:

I have noticed that in the past 2 days, the sound has been at a much lower level on my Sony 1070. I think it only affects surround sound as when I played a CD via it (using my Sony 725 DVD player), it sounded fine.
When I turn on the test tone, the surround speakers do seem quieter. I have to turn the volume up to around -40/-45 when watching a DVD. Before now, for DD5.1 films I had it at -55 and for DTS films around -60.
I am using Wharfedale 8.1 speakers for the rear surround and 8.2 for the front. They are connected with individual wires. Two wires go to each speaker at the back and 4 wires for each of the 3 front speakers. I forget what this method is called.
I have checked the following:
Night Mode is turned off
Checked the cabling for the speakers
Turned it off (although not at the mains) and waited
Nothing has changed it. Any advice?
Cheers.

I had the same problem with my 940. Couldn't figure out why it should happen and it got on my nerves so i sold it and bought a Pioneer.

what are the indvidual speaker volumes in the menu?, have you tried increasing the volume on the rears in the settings menu on the amp?
Try getting hold of an spl meter to measure the sound precisely and adjust the speakers accordingly..

I haven't played around with the levels but I am wondering why it should just all of a sudden happen.
