Question:
I have a Sony TV (KV-21LT1U). Although it's 4:3 I like the 16:9 mode for DVDs in the bedroom. When it's in this mode it has a distracting white line above the picture.
Any one know why and if there's a way to get rid of it (service menu perhaps) ?
Cheers

Up for another try.
Does it appear only on NTSC DVDs or on PAL ones as well? I had this problem on my Sony (different model) and was able to enter the service menu to shift the picture up a little to make the lines disappear.
Not sure how you would get into the service menu on your set though.
I get this with NTSC discs ever since I went to an s-video source. I have a sony KV32D60S but the picture adjustyment option on the menu is blanked out. I can only rotate the picture which isn't much help. Anyone know how to get into the service menu?
I've got the same set (ds60). Service menu is reached by holding down the + and - volume buttons on the tv when switching it on. The letters on screen will display TT and then, if you hit menu on the remote, it will bring up the service menu.
Adjust settings at your peril!!
I also had this line although it appeared slightly differently in that it showed itself not as a pure white line but rather as a lighter shade of whatever the top line of the widescreen picture was. This only happened on s-vid and so I changed my dvd back to RGB (at the time I needed the sole RGB scart for sky).
Incidentally, if any expert knows how to fix the fact that the top line of any widescreen picture bends down slightly on the left hand side, I could really use some advice as I can't find any way to adjust it.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.
The line appears whenever the set's in 16:9 mode, even with an RF feed from the Pace skydigital box (little mini thing that doen't output RGB).
Any more ideas anyone?? If not as the set is new might be time for a call to Mastercare.
