Question:
sorry if this is in the wrong place mods :)
My parents just got a refurb Nokia set top box(this one (http://www.dixons.co.uk/store/martprd.dll/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0201894845.1058377970@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccfadcilfilgjgcefecfgmdffgdflg.0&page=Product&sku=641639&category_oid=-14238) from Dixons. It's ok, but it still has all the old OnDigital software on it. Is there any way to update it to 'Freeview' software? I've tried autoupdate (despite the manual telling me not to use that under any circumstances!) but they just resets the box with an error.
so is it possible? :)

Yes it is, but I'll put it in its right place ;)

If its got On Digital software on it its likely that the internal software is owned by On Digital \ ITV Digital therefore Nokia wont issue any software updates to freeview.
For more advise you could call Nokia on 01793 556 046 for Nokia Home Communications.
Not quite sure what you are trying to do? Do you mean so the menus don't say On Digital? Or do you mean so that the box picks up the Freeview signal?
If it's the latter, I think you just retune it and that's it.
well the software does say OnDigital, I just assumed that there would have been an update to replace it with Freeview branded software. doesn't look like that's possible according to what maddogsuk says (cheers for the number, might give 'em a ring tomorrow, just in case)
in any case Dad's found it sooooo slow we're sending it back and they want a faster model.
The Nokia boxes are really slow at navigation and changing channels although they're great if you've got TiVo.
Mine still says OnDigital too, but that's not a problem.
well we've not got TiVo so we're returning the Nokia and probably going for the Netgems I-Player which seems to be highly priased as a fast box (basically the thing that's most important to dad).
I forgot about this thread...
I've got the Nokia 221T and that is definately not slow.
