DVDR880 & Compatibility Bitsettings / Book Type Field
Question:

Hi,
I'm trying to get a DVD+RW disc (which was recorded on a Philips DVDR880) to read on a Toshiba SD C 2502 DVD-ROM drive.
According to DVDplusRW.org, this can be achieved by changing the Compatibility Bitsetting on the disc, which is also eluded to in the Philips user manual trouble shooting section.
To change the setting, the number 2 on the remote must be held down while the disc tray is ejected with the disc in, and released when the disc tray has loaded.
I have tried this, but there is no indication on the DVDR880 that anything has happened (and the disc still cannot be read on the Toshiba drive). I have also tried holding down 3 on the remote, as the instructions say to try this if the first method is unsuccesful.
My question is, has anyone tried this on a DVDR880 before and got it to work? It could be that my timing is out on holding down the button or I have missed something obvious!!
Cheers,
Darren

Answers:

I had to do this (I thought) when I first put a RW disc in my old Panasonic player. You are doing it right, there is no indication anything is done, apart from the tray closing itself.
All my RW discs play in my laptop with no problems.
