Question:
I'm trying to persuade my sister to buy a region free DVD player but she thinks her Phillips TV does not output NTSC. (no mention in manual apparently).
I thought all modern flat - widescreen TVs were NTSC compatible. The set is about 2 years old, model 32pw9525/05.
Anyone know for sure?
I can't be 100% certain, but I would be surprised if the tv didn't accept NTSC, as most sets from major manufacturers, especially since about 1999 onwards, have included NTSC playback.
Make sure that any dvd player you buy has RGB output via its' SCART socket, as an NTSC signal played back through RGB will bypass much of the PAL circuitry, and this should ensure that you can play back NTSC without any problems.

Frank.

If anyone knows for certain. I'd be grateful for confirmation. failing that, does anyone know of a web site that would give a definitive answer. I tried a search on google for phillips but, surprisingly, didn't come up with anything useful.
