Question:
I bought one of these today and once i connected it all up, i noticed that applications (like games machines and DVD players) plugged in through the scart extension had VERY LOW sound volume on the AV channel. I had to crank up the TV to almost full volume. If i plugged the apps directly into the AV1 or AV2 slots on the back of the video the sound volume returned to normal (and louder).
IS this normal with a 3 or 5 way scart extension to reduce volume dramatically? Or have a got a dodgey one? Or are there better scart extentions out there that don't reduce the volume so much?
Cheers.
I don't know that particular one, but I use the Argos three way switch and it makes no difference to video or audio.
I hate to say those JVC ones are rubbish, I brought one from Dixons and found it could not handle RGB.
I returned mine and got a refund and like dannywonderful I got the brilliant Argos one cat no: 534/0370 and have had no problems with sound or RGB signals.
Stuart.
It's the VX-J140 cable. I haven't got round to testing it on my proper TV, and was only commenting on my small 14" one, so perhaps it might work differently..
Just like Dannywonderful i have the Argos scart box and its excellent
I went to Argos and i bought the 5 in 1 Scart Adapter block (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=651&langId=-1&searchTerms=5341922). It's got manual selection for each scart point and after testing it, the sound volume on each selection is as normal! I don't think it's RBG compatible though as my console shows black and white on the 60Hz mode
I read the advice here but couldn't remember which one people had when i went over there. If i'd have remembered i would've gone for the cheaper £10 three-way Scart. :brickwall I suppose i can always take it back.. ?
The five in one suffers from picture degradation. You need the three way switch without the lead attached. Obviously you'll need a scart lead to go with it.
Does the argos one have automatic switching?

So would the 3-in-1 adpater lead to a 60Hz RBG compatibility?
I use the B-Tech BT-945 Quintro+ (bought from Keene). It's great. Automatic switching, remote control, 4x RGB SCART, 1xSCART (all 5 S-Video capable), widescreen switching. No video or audio problems that I've noticed (I use all four RGB sockets - Sky Digibox, PS2, Gamecube and Xbox) on my 42in Tosh RPTV. PAL60 seems to work okay, but I've not tried shoving NTSC through (is NTSC SCART even possible?).
Mine hummed, but it turns out the base isn't quite level (and nor are the surfaces I've had it on, so propping up one corner sorted that.
£79, but I don't have to get up to push buttons (and don't risk picture bleed, like the people push all the buttons down at once on the Argos one).

iceking,
No auto switching on the Argos one I'm afraid :(. But it's not a problem for me, as I need to go to the DVD player to put a disk in, so I just press the switch whilst I'm there :). Great piece of kit IMHO - I've got three RGB sources and only one RGB input on my telly - this solves the problem .
Cheers,
Dave.
I got 2 of the argos 3 in 1 switches and they are great.
One in the bedroom for the consoles and one in the living room for sky/video/dvd player and console of choice.
I use this one (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=651&productId=38573) from Argos and have no complaints.

Does the £10 job from argos actually support RGB compatibility and/or 60Hz mode? Or do i have to buy a seperate RGB scart cable as one of the connection points? I'm confused! I know without an RGB cable of some kind my TV won't be able to support it.
