Is it my amp or speakers?
Question:

When watching a DVD in dts sometimes a loud clicking sound will occur on the right rear speaker. If I turn the DVD player off and on it resolves it. It can’t be the DVD player and I have just gone from a Samsung 709 to a HK dvd2550s and the problem still occurs. Is it the speakers (which are eltax h2 bi polars) or the receiver (Marantz sr4200) or could it be the physical connection in some way?
Any ideas or tests you guys could suggest would be great.
Thanks

Answers:

If it NEVER happens when using Dolby Digital, then it cannot be the speakers or connections. It must be the amp.

My Marantz sr4200 does exactly the same thing. I've been meaning to take it back to Richer Sounds for repair for a while. It also sometimes has incredibly distorted/loud output when you turn it on which is fixed by turning off then on again.
Vaguely remember that its a well known fault.

Over the past few days i have been watching a lot of DVD's and the amp is now producing a clicking on the front 3 speakers when playing back dolby digital or prologic 2. I think im gonna have to get it sent somwhere to be looked at.
Evil Egg, do you know if Richer Sounds use original Marantz parts?
Or do you have any idea how much this would cost to fix?
Cheers

No idea I'm afraid, not looked into it properly yet. I assume it'll be easy for me as I took out the extended 3yr warranty, but you never know with Richer Sounds!
