Question:
:help: required please.
Hiya all, I am looking to build my own cabinet to house my Marantz SR4200 Rec, DVD, XBOX, PS2, SKY, Video and Telewest Digibox.
My TV is a Heavy 36" Panasonic DPL3
I thought on one of the forums there was a DIY Thread, cant seem to find it now.
Any advice would be welcome.
I was thinking of using either 18mm MDF or Mexican Pine.??
Also I have a Mordaunt Short MS905C which I was thinking of sitting in the middle of the cabinet vertically, is this a good idea??
Look forward to any advice,
Thanks

No advise I'm afraid but I'd be interested in something like this as well as all my gear is currently sitting in an old pioneer hifi cabinet which is groaning under the weight. I've seen the flexishelves before but fancied something a bit more enclosed.
I built my cabinet out of pine and used 3/4" MDF as the shelves. I left the back open as my Amp and dvd get very hot after prolonged used.
I also used toughened glass for the front - just in case.
I think ventilation is quite important as is the strength of the shelves as my amp weighs 30+ Kg.
Got a huge light pine glass front open back cabinet in Ikea for £75.
Will easily take a 36" on top and all of my components including Sony DVD player, HS2 DVD recorder, Denon 3803 Amp and Sky box with room for probably another two things!
I built my cabinet from 18mm MDF and covered it with Ronseal Paint and Grain.

Thanks for the tips guys, ljp, I like the idea, similar to what I had in mind, but I was going to go up instead of wider, but if I go wider then this may help the situ with my Tannoys 633s as they are not sheilded and make my tv go purple if they get moved too close, dont spose anyone knows how to make speakers sheilded not so they, lol
Cheers for the tips guys.

On a bit of tangent, but after looking at the Quadraspire stuff I sent some drawings in to a furniture maker and they quoted £1800 to build an AV stand
Makes Quadraspires stuff look cheap at £900
£1800 to build a AV stand, ouch, I bet you didnt go for it m8,
Thanks for the info m8.

You're not wrong.
£1800 can buy you a bloody good TV.
Mental.
