Question:
Hi.
Having just splashed out on a new 32" Panasonic TV I am thinking of buying a budget DVD Player and I see that the CyberHome CH 400 gets good reports.
Some question over its current availability from WH Smith although I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks. Of more concern to me are the quoted dimensions for the player of 225mm x 240mm x 60mm (W x D x H) - does anyone know if these are right? It seems way too narrow for a DVD player.
I think I would actually prefer full width and (if the 400 is only 225mm wide) I think it will have to be the DVD402 model as whatever I get will be part of a video/ntlbox/dvd stack and the ntlbox has to be on top for venting purposes.
Any confirmation of the size of the CH400 would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Just realised that Special Reserve only deliver to UK Mainland and I am in N Ireland - so i guess that rules that option out! (Unless someone here can point me to another supplier?)
Or what about the Hitachi model that Tescos are flogging for £69 at: http://www.tesco.com/electrical/Browse.asp?type=Item&typeid=7941873 - I can't find any reviews of this model and don't know whether it can be made multi-region or not.....
Have a look at the Pacific on sale at Asda for £49, seems to be a good buy for the money according to those who have one.
I've recently bought a Fusion 811 from Richer Sounds - excellent budget player (£80) with picture quality that rivals many players i've seen in the £200-300 price range.
Even better is that it's multi-region, has good connectivity, it's dead simple to use, will play anything you chuck at it and has no problem with RCE discs.
EDIT
As for the Cyberhome - i've heard that there are quite a few problems with some Cyberhome models (one high street shop I know of has refused to stock any more due to returns out-weighing keeps)so be careful, but it is an extremely slim-line player. The Fusion 811 is a "full-size" player.

I've got the Cyberhome 400 and Compacks 5000 from Safeways - £49.49. The Compacks beats in every department. Offer in Safeways ends 30/6/3. There were plenty in Shore Road, Belfast last week, its a real looker. Check out the bargain thread 'Progressive Scan....'
Thanks guys for the replies.
Ivan - fantastic - I'm off to get tomorrow if they still have them. I just checked out the site at: http://www.area450.com/thesampozone/players/dvd5000.htm
which you are probably aware of, and it helped convince me.
Just my luck if they are out of stock. I will post back and let you know how I get on.

Ivan,
I managed to get one but had to pay 59.99. Only about 10 left in Shore Road. They had a big pile of REOC players at 49.99 but wasn't about to go off doing more research for the sake of a potential saving of a tenner.
Haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it will be fine.
Thanks for the tip.

Good one Psybear - happy viewing.
