Question:
I am lookinfg to replace my now dead sony dvdp535 (C13.00 no surprises) and looking to spend around around £100 whay should I buy.
ps I am not bothered about multi region.
Ive just recently bought a panasonic dvd-S35 player for £98 multiregion and it plays everything including dvd-ram for when I get my dvd recorder. Also I have a cyberhome dvd-402 £79 from whsmiths which I think is excellent and got great reviews from the magazines. The new cyberhome 400 £50 from whsmiths has got good reviews and at £50 a steal. The only format it wouldnt play that I wanted was dvd-ram so I went for the pansonic instead.
What is the picture quality like on them?
Just got the S35 and only played vcd's on it so far but fine.Im currently watching sliders on my cyberhome and the picture quality is excellent.
Just got a multiregion Tosh 330e from Amazon for £99.00 delivered, this machine has superb picture and sound quality and you will see it getting 5* reviews everywhere,i also have a cyberhome as a second player but believe me there is no comparison between the two.
Also have a Toshiba 330e, fantastic players and a huge step up from the old Phillips it replaced.
Id go for the Panasonic 75, higher Video DAC speed than most players.

It says on Panasonics site that the 75 has D/A converter of 54MHz/10-bit, that jsut the same as most players isn't it? I know the philips models well most of the new one go up to 12 bit but no one ussually mentions them or this. I'm too also deciding what player to get?
I bought a Toshiba 330 as a second player, and I've been absolutely delighted with it - multiregion straight out of the box and as many trimmings as you can reasonably expect for £99.99 (and quite a few you wouldn't, like DTS).
Sorry to hijack the thread a bit - but my bruv in law is looking to get a first DVD player for about the £100 mark too.
Can anyone eleborate which supplier they are buying their multiregion out the box players from?
Thanks:)
I got mine from <A HREF="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000094SBX/ref=mk_pro2_h_1_1/202-5406972-1135002">here</A>.
Incidentally, I'm happy to confirm that it has no problem with CD-R and DVD-R - and even does automatic slideshows if the CD-R has a folder full of JPEGs!
Thats true one_one, though the vast majority of DVD players still have 10 - bit 27Mhz DACs.
Thanks for the tip - I'll pass that on to him.
