MAKING DVD-PLAYER-COMPATIBLE DIVX CDs
Question:

Hi all,
I own quite a few original DVDs that I used to play on my computer but my girlfriend refuses to watch movies on a PC monitor so I was thinking to pass them on a CD using a freeware DVD copying tool and the codec divx 5.0.5 that incorporates the standards for Divx Home Theatre to be viewed on ordinary DVD players, attached to a TV set.
NOw, 1 million dollar question: how does the CD structure must be in order to be read by these new DVD players? Do I need to name the .avi (divx file) in a certain way or create a VIDEO_TS folder just like in a DVD file structure and place the movie in there and if so how do I have to name that file?
I really appreciate any help from whom has done this before or heard of something on the net as I am googling for hours with no valid result.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Why not just pass her the dvd if she is watching it on a standard dvd player?

Try DVDR Help (htp://www.dvdrhelp.com) :)

Three ways:
- Convert the DivX to a VCD type file that will probably require spiltting the film across several discs via the guides at VCDhelp.com
-Buying a DivX compatible DVD player (KiSS player for ~£175)
-Buying the DVD player from Safeway in the bargain forum for £50 and enjoying the High quality DVD on a TV at minimum cost.

Eh? You own original DVDs that you wish to watch on a TV. Why bother converting to DivX at all? Why not just watch the DVD?
If you have existing DivX files you want to watch on TV, I highly recommend Xbox Media Player.

hi all and thanx 4 all ur answers.
I forgot to say that I own about 40 DVDs which were very cheap when I bought them in Malaysia but unfortunately they only play on my DVD region-free enabled computer.
Anyway, thanx to the friend that suggested dvdrhelp.com as I am trying this DVD shrink and.. it creates REGION FREE copies of a DVD!! I guess I will find some more stuff that will answer my initial question but so far I shrink the movie a couple of times and the quality is still wonderful and it fits on 2 CDs.
Making VCDs or SVCDs you lose on pic quality and sound, plus the number of cds needed will fill up my house..
all sorted, anyway
thanx
