Question:
Hi,
I love my dvd's and i have a lot of boxsets where very nice cardboard boxes usually contain between 2 and 8 DVD's.
Even though I take really good care of all my DVD's the one things I've started noticing on several of my boxsets is the cardboard starts to show wear especially on the corners and box seams resulting in nasty plain cardboard showing through or even splits.
I was wondering if this is a common thing or just me and has any smart person come up with a crafty solution ??
Ideally I'd like a nice plastic protective cover to place the box inside... you know how comic book collectors tare care of there comics by placing them in bags. Normal DVD's are fine cause they have plastic corners and the covers are protected by the clear plastic film.
I was thinking of getting a shrink wrap type machine and protect the boxes by shrink wrapping them but that would probably just look cheap and take away from the quality of the box.
Some companies have tried to address this by placing the whole box in a solid plastic slide sleeve like the Futurama and Toy Story boxsets but those things just ****** up the cardboard box even worse after a few removes.
Any ideas/opinions or solutions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott
Depends how often you are taking the discs out of the boxes i suppose, all my box sets are mint, and are doing just fine sat on a shelf.
The only reason the comic book collectors store their comics in plastic wrap and fire proof filing cabinets is because some of the first editions are very valuable.
I wouldn't worry about it, your box sets will remain in gret condition unless you do something stupid, in 10 years or so they'll be out in a new format and worth next to nothing anyway.
