Question:
Apologies if this has been answered before, I did try a search on this topic but couldn't find an answer.
I have Creative Inspire 5300 speakers attached to my PC. The only inputs these have are mini-jack plugs for front, centre and rear speakers.
If I want a standalone DVD player to work with these speakers, would I have to ensure I get one with front, centre and rear outputs? If so, are these easy to find? If not is there some connection I could make using an adaptor or lead to the DVD audio outputs?
One of the DVD players I have looked at has"Built-in Dolby digital and DTS Decoder" and "Dolby down-mix dual channel output (analog RCA TERMINAL)" Does this just mean a stereo output and not surround sound.
Thanks in advance for any help
What you want is one which has the full 5.1 analogue outputs on the back. So ... front left, front right, centre, rear left, rear right, subwoofer.
You then get 3 X (3.5mm female jack to 2 Male RCA) converters and plug the Creative 5300 into the headphone jacks and the DVD player onto the 6 RCA connectors.
Give these folks a buzz and ask how much for a set of cables. (http://www.leadsdirect.f9.co.uk/custom.htm)
