Component input via VGA - help
Question:

I've got a Sony VPL-CS2 projector that has component input via the VGA socket; there is a Sony lead (SMF-402) that will allow connection to my DVD player but it seems impossible to track down.
Is it a simple procedure to make up a lead? I thing connections would be PR(Pins1,6), Y(Pins2,7), PB(Pins3,8). Any comments would be welcome.

Manufacturers charge a fortune for their own leads, but like you suspect they aren't very difficult to make. Have you looked in the CS2 manual for the correct pinouts?
If you have a decent soldering iron you can buy the plugs and cable and make yourself. The other alternative is to send a spec to someone who does custom cables. Places like lindy.com, lektropacks and Keene electronics might do the lead. Alternatively you could buy the bits from Maplins or maybe ARD electronics.

Done it - went down to Maplin bought a VGA female socket, two 2 way phono sockets and a little box all to make up an adaptor. Wired it all up using VGA lead to connect to projector and phonos to DVD (Compacks 5000) and instant component/progressive scan:)
