Question:
I'm looking to buy a 32" flatscreen TV between £500 and £800. I've been searching around for reviews and such, but they're so varied that what one reviewer says is excellent, another one will say is rubbish.
Ideally I want 3 scarts, NTSC compatability, stand included, good picture and motion definition and good spatial sound (to keep me going until I get an amp and speaker set up). 50HZ or 100HZ optional (actually, to tell you the truth, i'd prefer NOT to get one with 100HZ as they always seem lacking in definition to me, but I guess that's a personal thing).
I've been eyeing up the Sharp 32 JF 73H (which i've seen for a bargain £537 on the net), but have heard that the remote is terrible.
So, can you well informed bunch lead me to the TV that's perfect for me??
Cheers
Hi mate, I was in exactly the same situation as you last week.
I went shopping round and found the Sharp 32JF73H in Comet for £599, but they had an extra 20% off so I picked it up for £479 - what an absolute bargain!
I spent ages reading all the reviews about different tv's and this one wasn't up there with the best, but to be honest, I don't notice any difference - I plug my dvd player through the rgb scart and the picture is as clear as crystal. I already had a tv signal booster anyway, so normal TV is very high quality.
It has 3 scarts, plus S-video and composites, its NTSC compatible, and its flat screen! You could get a non flat screen, but you prob wouldn't find a good brand one for that price!
It has all these extra things as well like digital comb filters and spatial expanders to get picture and sound as good as possible.
I am over the moon with it cos it was so cheap. I went into Currys to see what they thought and the bloke said that Comet had beaten them and they had to take second place (never thought I'd hear them say that).
One point though - it didn't come with a stand which might be a major point to you, it wasn't to me cos I don't need one.
They were low on stock though, I got mine from the Liverpool Speke Branch on the Saturday morning. They had 8 on the Friday, but only had the one left (my one) by Saturday morning so they were flying off the shelves!
A local company were advertising a JVC model 32P10 which is 100hz, flatscreen, dolby digital (need to add rear speakers), 3 scart sockets. Comes with stand etc for £599.99.
Retailer is called Ron Leigh Ltd and have been established 40 years according to the advert.
Mail order salesman is called John apparently. Bit of haggling should get free UK delivery.
Phone number is 01942 244696.
Cheers, Brock.
