Question:
Bloody hell, but this has been difficult.
I have been through forums and magazines trying to find the best widescreen TV I can get for £400. Picture and connectivity are imprtant, sound isn't as I have a nice little home cinema set-up.
I have narrowed it down to three:
Sony KV28LS35S
Panasonic TX28PL1
Philips 28PW6006
What do you all reckon?
I was also tempted by the JVC AV28WFT1EKS, but that doesn't seem to be available anymore. Can anyone tell me whats happened here? Ifit has been updated, what is the equivalent model, and is it any good?
Many thanks to everyone.:help:
Disregard the Philips straight away.
I doubt you'll be too disapointed with either of the other 2 sets, but there's no such thing as a perfect WS set, especially at the low end of the market.
I reckon this one: Sony KV28LS35S :)
Just to be sure- the Sony can play NTSC signals, right?

Yep Sony can play NTSC signals
I, too, am looking to get a good 28" 100mhz, NTSC TV for around the £400 mark...
I was looking at the KV28LS36 for about £445... Anyone give this the thumbs up?
are you going to get a 100hz tv for £400? I doubt it.
next question, do you really need 100hz on a 28" tv anyway...? very debatable.
I'd go for the Panasonic, never had a problem with mine.

I presume the LS36 is the replacement for the LS35. If so, it's not 100Hz. The LS60s and higher are 100Hz.

Screen size is absolutely irrelevant to 100Hz.

Ditto, or pay a bit more and get the LS60 with 100Hz and 2 RGB scarts :)

Aye but I've got a few niggles with it, such as "light stripes" on either side of the picture when I reduce the Overscan via the Service Menu (which I got off you on the avforums aswell :D ) and on black scenes I get a light grey "mist" across the top of the picture.
Apart from that it's ace (use it with a Sony NS905) for both R1 & R2 DVD's
Nwrmartin - have you bought one yet?
Only, July's edition of What HIFi are asking the very same question and the winner was the Panasonic TX-28PS1 (which has replaced the PL1 series.
They absolutely raved about it and thought it was better than the Phillips and JVC models you listed (Sony wasn't reviewed)
RRP is supposed to be c.£500 but you can shop around and pick one up for £400 including free stand...
