Question:
As above really. I've had my DVD player and Videologic Digitheatre DTS hooked up by an optical cable for a few years now and it works just fine for me. I've just got an xbox though and wouldn't mind 5.1 sound but I don't want to have to plug/unplug cables each time I change device. Plus I've got satelite box which I would prefer to wire up to the optical out as well.
Does anyone know of any decent optical/toslink switchers? Does one even exist. After a bit of googling, I came across a Toslink 3-Way Optical Selector Switch (http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/acatalog/Toslink_Connectors_and_Adaptors.html)
Will this do the job? If anything, its cheapness is putting me off!
thanks in advance for any advice.
Personally I run Coaxial for the DVD to Videologic and Optilink the Xbox. But then bloody Telewest only have anolouge inputs so I'm talking utter gibberish . Sorry:nuts:
I admit that did cross my mind, is there any noticable difference in using the dvd player via the digital coax input rather than the optical? I'll have to try that later I think
I prefer a coaxial. I did go a bit nuts and buy a £50 connect by Eichmann but the difference was good enough to justify it. If I was you I'd but a cheap Ixos or QED digital connect of eBay. Even an IXOS 105 should stand up to an optical. If you don't agree you can always flog it back. Also Richer Sounds allow a loan out on cables for a deposit. One other thing as I think SKY only do 5.1 thru SKY Plus you could use analogue interconnects just as effectivly if you are just useing a SKY digibox. Ii use Gamma or Cable Talk and films sound great.
