Question:
A colleague is considering buying a TiVo. He has an NTL digital cable box (Pace 1000 or 2000 he thinks). I remember something ages ago about there being problems with TiVo controlling NTL boxes. Refresh my memory on what the caveats are please good people.

Yes, Tivo will work with NTL Pace 1000,2000 and 4000 boxes.
1000 and 2000 boxes definitely need a 'cable adapter' or 'dongle' from Tivo customer services £30. 4000 series may not need on it depends on software version and wind direction.
I use a 4000 with a dongle on TeleWest.

If your colleague actually manages to find a Tivo for sale in the UK then he/she will be pretty lucky. Ebay is about the only source these days.
