Question:

Think i've asked this before, but couldnt find the thread (or remember the response!) was arsing about with it today and noticed it has an AV setting (on the player) does this mean it would be possible to hook my Sky+ box up to it, if so what would i need?

Answers:

That's a all-in-one DVD player, amp and speakers, right? I don't know that particular one, but from the ones I've come across, helping friends set them up, they often have a basic L&R phono input on the back of the sub. If the Sky+ has L&R phono out's, it's just a case of hooking them together. If it doesn't, you'll have to buy a scart to composite phono cable - put the red and white audio phonos into the sub and the yellow video phono into the TV - you may have to get a phono to scart box for this. Fiddly, I know, but VCRs and Satalite boxes often don't have descrite phono out's - it's all done via the scart.

Answers:

ah, thanks for that will look into what connections are on the back and have a go!
Right after having a look its got a aux in (2 phono thingy) and a digital audio out which has two phono for audio and two for video. Also go an svideo connection.
any idea if any of them are any good. i figure its the aux in one personally?

Answers:

Yup - you can discount any 'outs' as you (obviously :)) need a 'in' and s-video is only capable of carrying a video signal, so isn't part of this equation. The fact it is labelled as Aux is also promising. All there is to do now is get a cable and give it a go! :)

Answers:

great, cheers for your help, i'll pick up a cable today and try, would phono to phno work as the back of the sky box seems to have an audio out set of connections (although i could be wrong, appaling memory!!)

Answers:

As long as the Sky box does have the red and white phono outs (my crappy Amstrad box doesn't, but that's not Sky+), then yes, that will be fine.

cheers

got me leads today and just bunged them in, although havent had a 5.1 film to test on, sound is outputting from the speakers!
Thanks alot for your help Mr Bump!

Answers:

Ah. You never said 5.1.....
That won't be 5.1, just normal stereo/pro logic. If you want 5.1 you are going to need a optical out on the Sky+ box (I assume it must have one?) and a optical in on your 'amp' (unlikely) and then a optical cable to connect the two. Sorry.

Answers:

oh well, stereo will do (no optical on the dvd player) still sounds better than me telly

Answers:

Yeah - it certainly should do! :) Enjoy!
