Question:
I mean the Ultimate DVD: Silver / Gold or Platinum or equivalent to fine tune their home cinema setup?
Cheers,
Boink!
I have the Platinum version. Has support for visual and audio checks, including samples of all audio formats (except mp3) for comparison. Only supports 5.1 sound in present form.
I find the Platinum version to be a very good demo disc. It has some configuration features unique to its disc but I find that the Video Essentials disc is more user friendly and goes into far more depth explaining the 'why's and 'theories', which are equally important for the user to make informed decisions on preferred set ups.
Can anyone recommend where to get these discs from, and if they are worth the expense.
I am new to all this and so completely useless at setting my system up, hopefully a Video Essentials type disc will mean i can get a good setup and learn about the principles, so i don;t have to bug the guys on this forum with useless questions
Thanks
EDIT
Well I have done my homework, as I should have done before, and found the following threads discussing the supply and effectiveness of the Video Essentials and Platinum discs:

I have the Ultimate:silver, only it's in a replacement case, if you're interested in a trade.
Ultimate Platinum - 2 Disc Set
You could get the Ultimate DVD Platinum for around £13 delivered (It's £30 on Play247) from ezydvd (http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/552/id=nbOUI:xqyMh) in Australia - that's where I got mine from.
It's a region free disk anyway, and I can vouch for EzyDVD - very good service. In fact their delivery from Oz is generally quicker than delivery from Jersey
