Question:
can you fine people please recomend me some decent equipment.
I am looking to spend no more the £400 and I would like to get a reciever/amp and a 5.1 sub/speaker package.
Any thoughts?
Stu
Have a look at Richer Sounds website. They do discounts if you buy seperates at the same time. Alternatively look at putting bits together and expand when you have more cash.
I've just put a system together for my parents for about £370 includeing cableing and interconnects but they've bought my old amp off me for £50.
Gale Moviestar 5 speaker pack for £149 from RS isn't a bad buy IMO.
I'm not really a fan of wood effect speakers so I would rule them speakers out.
but cheers for the advise mate
I'd look into seeing if you can get a set up with DTS as well as DD5.1. That's if your player's got a DTS out jack.
I'm sure this is pretty much standard nowadays.
Are you after a girlfriend friendly setup, ie small speakers or can you indulge yourself a little? :)
the player will be the Tosh 330e I am not actually too sure what outputs it has as I have not bought it yet.
I can get whatever speakers I want but I would like them to look nice to go with the living room.
Suggestions please. Remember the budget is £400
Cheers

Is this receiver any good ->here (http://www.richersounds.co.uk/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=300813) or can anyone suggest a different one around the same price? looks like its about £200 so that would leave about £200 for the speaker/sub package.
Just a thought, but wouldn't you be better going for an all in one package (inc DVD player) with that budget?
I've had my setup for a couple of years now so I'm a bit out of date with regards to the latest kit, but that'd be what i'd look into. Especially if you don't currently have a player.
stu I've just brought the Toshiba SD42HK setup from Richer sounds for about £230....I was going to buy all the seperates from them but they recommended going for an all in one package.

I dont really want to go down the all-in-one package route. I want to get a nice setup now that I can upgrade over time.
I do have a dvd player at the moment but its not the best machine (it doesnt play VCD's/CDR's/MP3's etc) so I want to upgrade that and I was recommended the Tosh 330e (which I can get for £100) which will leave me with £400 for Sub/Speakers and a Receiver.
