Question:
Just wondering if a pure flat screen is better then a normal widescreen tube. Whats so good about a pure flat tube.
:)
Pure flat gives you a wider viewing angle, less distortion of the image, and so on.
Some flatscreens are not actually flat though, e.g. Panasonic just stick a flat piece of glass over a curved tube to make it look flat :suspect:
Pure flat means that the image has no distorsion to speak of as SG says. I also hate the reflections that a non-flat tube gives.
so is it really worth paying a little extra for a flat tube.

It's up to you. Do you want those advantages? Yes? Then yes. No? Then no. :D
I couldn't live with a curved screen myself.

Too right. The curved screens are almost always on the "budget" sets anyway, where performance is not up to my desired standard :D
Once you've had flat you can never go back!!!;)
Seriously though it does make for a better overall picture, but highlights geometry flaws though too.
