Philips 28 W/S PW6006 Geometry Settings
Question:

A while back I changed the geometry settings on my TV, and stupidly, I never wrote down the default settings. I've been tweaking the settings for a few weeks, but I'm getting no joy.
My brother is the only person I know with the same model, but it's the 24" version. Are the Geometry settings the same? If not, would someone be kind enough to post their settings, and help me out with my dilly of a pickle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:

If you can post instructions on how to access them, I'll have a looksie at my 28" 6006's settings when I get home.

I think you might have a problem here, I dont think there are any "default" settings. From reading threads over at the avforums it appears as if the geometry setting on each television are set differently at the factory.

The access code is 062596 i+.
The only settings I need (I hope) are the geometry ones.
I found it's best to enter the service menu while the TV is set to Widescreen, otherwise the ratio's are thrown out of whack.
To exit the Service Menu you have to switch the TV to stand-by.

I'm afraid the geometry settings on the 6006 aren't the same per set.
By entering the default settings of someone else's set you will more than likely put your own geometry settings right out.

...but I can only try. How badly off can they be?

Answers:

Pretty bad.
I know because I had some geometry issues with the 6006 and I asked for the geometry settings of another 6006 owner who claimed to have near perfect geometry on his set.
Entering the settings for the other set made my 6006 4:3 mode look more like 14:9, that should give you an idea of how big the differences can be. In the end I had to swap my 6006 for a new one and that too had it's own unique geometry settings.

Can anyone advise on how I could correct the geometry setttings? I've tried tweaking the Geo settings (I haven't touched the other settings), but I can't straighten the left and right of the image which bends inwards at the top (also effects 4:3 black bars). Also, the image is slightly off centre, Diagonally.
Is replacing the set my only option?
Any help would be appreciated.

Answers:

I've had two of these sets (both 28PW6006) and the default geometry settings were very different.
After many many attempts at tweaking the vertical bars of my PW6006 I gave up and figured it was never possible. They'll always bend in by a few mm either at the top or the bottom!
As for offcentre:
HSH in the 'horizontal' menu moves the whole piccy from left to right.
VSH in the 'vertical' menu does the same vertically (moves it up and down)
A combination of the two should sort that out.
A word of warning, don't touch EWW and EWP unless your TV is 6006 is in Widescreen mode! Things can get really confusing otherwise!
