Looking for an all in one remote.
Question:

Now I know alot of you are immediately going to suggest the pronto, but I was wondering what other good products there are around.
I've currently got a Palm Pilot with Omni remote and a external Ir booster, which is good, but as the screen size isn't overwhelming I thought I'd look around.
I guess the ideal remote would be something programable (so it can easily learn, and the button labels are programmable to change depending on which device is selected) but with hard buttons instead of touchscreen (since that proves to fiddly for much of my family members!). Is there something that fits this bill perhaps?
Thanks

This is what you want:-

A great piece of kit. Have a look at the Remote Central (http://www.remotecentral.com/mx500/index.html) review. My bro got mine in the US for me from www.bluedo.com (http://www.bluedo.com) but I think they ship internationally as well.

On a similar topic, anyone got this One for all 6 (http://www.remotecentral.com/ureview/72.htm)? Would you recommend the code input or learning remote method? I find that sometimes you'd find a code that only 90% works..

You could take a look at the Marantz RC2000 MkII.
I got one on ebay for about £55.
there's a pic here (http://www.remotecentral.com/rc2000m.htm)

I've got the Khameleon 6in1 and its great
I've got a Tosh 32" Picture Frame, Tosh MR SD-210 DVD player, Aiwa VCR, Amstrad satellite and Philips CD player and it controls all of em with ease.
Yeah some of the more obscure options were missing but with the learning option adding extras is a breeze.
Yeah the buzzing sound can be a little annoying if you hold it to your ear and sit in a library, but c'mon seriously, how many people use their remote with the sound turned down
Anyway its put all my other remotes in the drawer and it looks cool in the dark.
Great remote ;)

Have you got a link so I can look at it.
I did a whole load of reprogramming actually on my Palm Pilot, splitting most screens to two seperate ones, so its far more useable now with larger buttons, so I am actually happier with this solution that I was; although for some reason it won't learn my nokia ondigital box commands :(

The nokia problem is because they use funny codes. A lot of remotes won't learn them, including my MX-500.

Grrr, must have spent best part of an hour playing with every setting I could find to try and get it (in vain) to work.
Hmm, don't suppose you found a work around of any sort?

Just the one - replace the Nokia!
Seriously, there's various threads about it at Remote Central with suggestions but I've never got any working. Have a look at:-

I've got a previous One For All 6 and have had no trouible with it at all. The learning facility seems to be OK, but then again, I haven't made a lot of use of that, I've just programmed a few buttons for basic functions.
Mind you, the day when it lets me program something to stop my wife from leaving it on the stairs, in the kitchen, in the bathroom etc, will be a day I rejoice. The kids and I get sick of playing 'Find the Remote' several times a week. Why can't she be a traditionalist and lose it down the back of the sofa like everyone else?:oh-hum: :oh-hum: :nono:

Fair enough, I'll have another go today with some copying and pasting of codes from a Pronto ccf, and failing that I imagine my nokia will be out the door when a decent freeview HDD recorder comes out.
