Philips TV faulty, in warranty - who do I go to?
Question:

My Philips TV is faulty, in warranty, who do I go to - shop (local) or phone Philips?
Who's responsible for fixing it, and do I have to ship it back anywhere?
Shots in the dark here I know...but both shop and Philips are closed right now.... I was wondering what ppls experience was in this case.
If it's shop, I'm glad I paid a little bit extra and bought it one mile away....

The retailer is responsible for arranging a repair :)
If they try to fob you off (a la Dixons) point out that it is a requirement of the Sales of Goods Act 1979, as amended 1994, and that your consumer rights are enforceable by Trading Standards :)

Yep,
Go to the shop. They'll probably arrange an 'approved' service engineer to come take a look at it. Depends on the warranty I guess. Each of my philips unit has been purchased with only the manufacturer's warranty, and each one has been collected and repaired, returned, and replaced.
What's wrong with it btw? As an owner of 4 (consecutive) faulty philips units, I'm becoming a bit experienced at this... :(

Phoned the shop, he asked if it would be possible to bring it round, I said no probs - if I brought it round tonight, it'd be on the bench being diagnosed tonight.
Things got in the way, so I'll leave it in tomorrow. I didn't arrange any inhouse warranty, so fairs fair. The shop apparently has a reputation for a quick turnaround.
Besides, if they ****** off the locals, chances are they'd **** off the wrong ppl and the IRA would bomb them. Everyone wins.
Oh, BTW it turns on for a second, turns off, then turns itseelf on again within a coupla secs, and turns right off again.
Weird.

Gawd, never thought TV repair could be that dangerous.
I bet it'll turn out to be a faulty mains transformer. You wait and see, ( he said, having been proved terribly wrong on all previous occasions...  )
