Well my old man had a Goodmans t.v and the NSTC playback was fine, would'nt know about Matsui. But i'd go for the Goodmans.

I would seriously consider one from a place such as Box Clever which do ex-rentals.
I picked up a 32" Philips widescreen for 290 quid inc. stand at the Solihull branch.
The allowed me to mix and match so I took an excellent condition TV which had a crappy cabinet with a cabinet taken from a less clean TV.
They some with a years warrantee and a brand new remote control. They are bound to be far better quality for the money.
I am certainly happy with mine.

box clever, do they have a website etc:)

er funnily enough it is http://www.boxclever.co.uk/ ;)
They have a store finder on there as well to find your local branch.
Just bought a Toshiba nicam VCR for 50 quid for my Mum there tonight as well.

Yeah, i'd seriously consider spending £50 - £100 more and getting a decent telly from one of the box-shifters like empire direct.

What about the 32" LG model that hienergyshop sell for £399 inc vat and delivery.

Several forum members went for this and posted positive reviews (and it does play NTSC).
LG are a much better brand than either Matsui or Goodmans. They design and make their own gear and have an excellent UK service network.
Its highly likely that the matsui and goodmans (and probably schneider and bush) come out of the same factory. Those brands generally don't make their own products (they are "badge engineered" ).

Has anyone got an LG TV like the link above, for £20 more is it a lot better TV then the Matsui and Goodmans:)

Answers:

Ive got the LG tv and it rocks for the money. A great picture, does NTSC, 60Hz everything. Do a search for it and youll find a lot of positive reviews, the only issues is a bit of "shift" on the picture and the some geometry issue, none of which are present on my model. The sound is pretty rubbish though and lacks power, although ive got everything runnign through my amp so i dont notice it

Answers:

I have the 32" model well worth the money was £380 a few months ago and includes a stand as well. Just make sure you check the geometry when you get it since quite a few had problems. Sound is quite poor but if it's for parents should be fine for normal telly watching. I bought a 5 year warranty for the tv for £80 online just in case it goes a bit funny.
D.

dvd goes through surround sound they have anyway, tv sound would be for normal tv viewing.
So for the sake of £20 more then the matsui and goodmans ya reckon the LG is a far better TV
