Bang & Olufsen - Your Views
Question:

My mate is keen on getting a Bang Olufsen home cinema set-up. I think it seems very expensive for what you get. What are peoples views?

Answers:

Totally pants for the price, you do get good sounding gear, but you can get just as good sound quality and build quality for the quarter of the price, they also price fix theyr gear too, they only let people sell theyr stuff if they agree to sell at a certain price. B&O is for idiots with too much money IMO. Bose are exactly the same too.

Answers:

Expensive, doesn't sound as good fro the money with what you can get from seperates, same for Bose.
Only advantage, it looks good.
But I watch my films in the dark, and don't really watch the speakers, I listen to them.

Answers:

Used to be great (I've two B&O TVs). Now they're selling furniture.

Answers:

Wierd, overpriced poser kit.

B&O = Overpriced tat :nono:

Agree with all the above comments, looks very good - sounds and performs crap (for the price)

Thnaks for your input guys will let my mate know your views, i think he was mainly looking at the style side.

Answers:

That CD thingey on a stand with the glass doors that open when you move your hand near them is supa-cool.
Its all overpriced style tat though from a real HiFi point of view.

Their wireless telephone is the best piece of tech I've ever owned. It easily outperforms any competitor. Then again, it is 4 x the price.
Naturally, I didn't pay full retail for it...

I used to sell B&O stuff back in the 80s I must admit I was a real fan of the gear. Looked fantastic and performed very well. It never justified its price I suppose but then what top end stuff does really. I think its unfair to put it in the same camp as Bose as some of that gear is total rubbish and doesn't offer anything that justifys the price. Bose is often poorly made with poor components used where as I feel B & O are better than this. Perhaps B & O is a different type of regime now but in the past it was always quality gear. Bose just seems an outright con where marketing is more important than product. Most Bose gear could be made in China to a higher standard and sell for a tenth of the price.

i think this sums a b&o purchase up quite nicely "a fool and his money are easily separated" need i say more mate ;)

Having a B&O shop 5secs away (why are there so many in Bristol???) I've also wondered if their stuff is worth it.
Their attention to detail is very good, probly one of the best. Take their 6 cd player, the fact that the cd's return to the exact same postion they started in (so all the labels match) is just pure class.
And although styling is personal preference, theirs tends to high quality and well thought out.

From my view the build quality is of a very high standard and the equipment fits the room more like a piece of furniture than a box in the corner.
People in the post have said the quality isnt that good - but its spot on. There expensive because the likes of the queen are amongst its users so its a class thing.
But yes you can buy similar quality in sony, panasonic goods etc..at a much lower price..............

Its not that its bad quality kit, a £1500 B&O Hi-Fi will kick a £400 systems ass, it just doesn't compare to other companies who make stuff in the same price range
