Question:
Hey,
Im looking for a decent NTSC - only Prog scan player.
I had the Toshiba 520 in mind, but wondered if anyone else had a better alternative?
Im looking to spend between £200 - £300.
Im going to be connecting it to my new Panasonic A300 projector!
Thanks for your time!.
Have a look in the powerbuys forum. There's a Harman Kardon DVD 25 thread there where you can get this player for £260.
Does NTSC & PAL progressive scan. Has a component out for connecting to projectors too.
Looks a nice piece of kit.

Has had some very good reviews as well that one.
I was tempted to go for one of these when I was upgrading a couple of weeks ago, but as I don't have a plasma or projector screen and no chance of upgrading to one, it wasn't worth me going over budget.
Got my Tosh 520e from www.multizonedvd.co.uk for £190 all in, delivered next day.
I had never experienced prog scan before but when I plugged it into my Tosh 36zd26 TV (using the supra AV3 component cable), the results were stunning.
Hope this helps.
I bought a HK DVD25 in the powerbuy and have been very impressed with it. I had tried two progressive scan players before it, a Limit and a Cambridge Audio (can't remember there model numbers), and neither came close to matching its quality in terms of picture or build quality. The picture with the Limit and CA was poor but this could have been due my Sanyo Z1. I have heard others suffering ghosting with Limits and a Z1 but there has been no sign with the DVD25.
The tosh player is supposed to be good but why are you limiting yourself to NTSC only? You could always buy one from Richer Sounds and try it out. If you were not happy then you could take it back again. Whatever you buy I am sure it will give a great picture and sound.
Good luck.
Aye get over to the Powerbuy forum :D
You can choose between the all black(DVD25) or the silver one(DVD2550)
i got a marantz dv4300, its an all round good buy IMO, although i cant speak for its performance regarding prog scan as my tv is just a piddley 28" w/s i got it for £230 delivered & multi reigion and it is certainly a good dvd player and it plays cds very well.
i was given the choice of a H&K dvd25 or the marantz dv4300 and went for the marantz. very impressed
oh yeah, and it matched my amp! so i can opperate it all from 1 remote so slightly a little bit biased maybe, none the less, a fine machine.
