Question:
I'm looking for a bit of advice here :help:
What I have:
TV with one scart socket and one rf
ntl cable box with two scart sockets and one rf
video with one scart socket and one rf
dvd player with one scart socket (and 5.1 audio outputs)
xbox with one scart socket
n64 with one rf
creative inspire 5300 5.1 speakers
what I want to do is connect as many things up as possible to the tv, possibly using some kind of scart/rf switching gadget?
any advice?
the only things that I can see that I definiely need to do is connect my external tv aerial to the ntl box by rf and onwards to the tv so I can watch terrestial and record cable at the same time.
thanks for looking
you need to list on those box's with twin scarts whether one is in & the other out etc,
This £10 SCART Video Unit (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/ols_prod_detl.d2w/report?prrfnbr=5340370&prmenbr=6970&type=big&thisMode=ols&cgrfnbr=775395) from Argos is very popular with people, I have one for switching between my XBOX, PS2 and Gamecube.
If you don't want to get off your seat you can also buy a remote control SCART switching box but of course they cost much more something like the Quintro (http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/searchxx.pl?12ada,SWITCH) £68 which is a 5 way SCART switcher.

Obviously showing my ignorance there!!
The ntl cable box has two scarts, one lablled vcr and one labelled tv, I presume this means they're both outputs?

That's how I have my Telewest cable box set up.
If you get one of the scart unit thingy make sure it is manual/remote switchable as I've yet to hear of any one who has tried one of the auto switch boxes and got it to work properly.

I am on Telewest but if you have a Pace 1000/2000 STB (not sure about the 4000 but probably the same) both VCR and TV SCART sockets on the cable box are outputs and VCR SCART is also an input so that you can use it to pass thru a signal when you have the Cable box off/Stand by and they will pass thru an RGB signal as well to your TV.
cheers for that = will give it go after I've bought the scrt thing from argos and some more scart leads
