HELP!! Pioneer 454 not playing VCDs or SVCDs
Question:

Had myself a Pioneer 454 now for about 4 months - great player (i have recommended it to many of my friends and work colleagues)
I went to play a couple of SVCDs on it last night, and they wouldn't play. All previous VCDs and SVCDs have played no problem.
The LCD on the player said CD (which is strange as it usually says VCD), it played the tracks but there was no sound and no audio.
Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, do you know what causes it, and how to remedy the problem!
At the mo, I have about 10 films to watch, but cant watch any of them
:( :(

I does sound a bit like the discs haven't been burned correctly?? Have you checked the discs on a PC DVD drive and/or another DVD player.
Have you tried using a VCD you know works again?

I burned them for him and they work fine on my pioneer 656 and on two pc's:confused:

I have tried other VCD and SVCDs on the player last night and they work ok!
To be honest, I thought my player had gone bad. But it might be the disks.
If I copy them onto better media at a slower burn speed could this solve the problem, or will the problem with the disks be copied with it!??

Answers:

It's most likely to be a glitch in the burning software used. If this is the case, copying them will only persist the problem.
What mastering software was it? (Roxio Easy CD by any chance?)

Just copied the disks that mixalot did for me. Copied them onto the same brand media using clone cd at 16x and they work ok!!
It must be the burning software and my pioneer!!
Anyway, i am happy now!!!
