Question:
Been having problems with my portable Panasonic CD player recently - even brand new CDs aree jumping on it or refusing to play from about track 6 onwards - otherwise they play perfectly on other machines. I guess it might be the laser being dirty? Any ideas/suggestions welcome as to what the problem is and how I might go about solving it.

have you tried cleaning the optical pickup with a cotton bud dipped in thinners or meths??

No I havn't - I'm not even sure where it is. Is it possible to buy a CD that can be inserted to do the Job? I guess from your comment that you think it may be a dirty lens too?

As what Jason T says. The laser lens is a small round transparent plastic on a movable block or just get a wet/dry cd lens cleaner from HMV.:)
