I would like to be able to watch some of my DVD RAm discs ( recorded on a panasonic E30 ) on another DVD player so is it possible to finalise the discs on the panasonic and view elsewhere?

Don't think so. Finalising isn't really the problem, it's the RAM element.
More players are coming out that are ram compatible, the cheapest being panasonics S35 which is just over £100. I paid £185 for my ra-82 last year just for it's ram compatibility.
