Question:
Hi all,
hope somebody can give me some info on using an old TV with a DVD player. I have an old (10 years) sharp mono TV of about 70cm. The only input to this TV is the antenne or RF input. I would like to connect a DVD player to this tv but have not seen a player with this type of output. I have a videorecorder with cinch (rca) inputs which I have connected a DVD player. This then goes through the RF (coax) cable to the tv. The strange thing is that BBC dvds will play problem free with this system but not dvds from other producers. For example, Warner bros. dvds and some dvds I bought in Australia will not play correctly. With these dvds the picture shakes and the brightness varies.
Can anyone explain why this system works for some dvds and not for others. And can I buy a convertor to give me a clean RF signal for my TV?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Macrovision.
As you have no SCART sockets, think your only option is to buy a new TV..
Your only hope is to either buy a DVD player that supports disabling of Macrovision or purchase equipment that can strip out the Macrovision bursts from the signal. Alternatively you could replace your TV :(
...or you could ring their UK office up (0208 839 0400) and demand to know why you are unable to watch to watch legitimate DVD's on your setup.
