Question:
Over the last two nights my TV keeps switching to black & white. My first thought was the aerial, but it was still B&W for the DVD and the Video, both of which go through seperate scarts.
My next thought was the tube, but I noticed that Teletext was still in colour, even though everything else was in mono.
The fault remeained for about 10 minutes than returned to normal, only to go back to B&W a bit later.
The TV is an old Sony one, which was a good one when new, many years ago. I'm assuming it's on it's way out, but don't really want to fork out for a new one if I can help it.
So, any advicee would be gratefully received.
Cheers
Accidentally drop it on the floor..

I was hoping to use that method as a last resort
OK, apart from dropping it, is it repairable? Or am I looking for a new one this weekend?
I have no idea how much TV repairmen are as I've never had to get one out. If it's going to cost £100 or so, I'd rather spend an extra £200 and get a nice new TV.
I was recently quoted £80 to £100 to replace a tuner in a Panasonic television which is several years old. Since I can purchase a new Panasonic ( similar model ) for somewhere in the region of £200 there seems little point in opting for a repair. Unless you can find someone who can repair your televison very cheaply I would suggest it would make more sense to purchase a new set.
