Question:
looking to pick on eof these all in one things (dvd, amp, speaker) kits for the kids. looking at the sony ones in - dare I say it - DIXONS - dons flame suit - and I need to know if they can be made multi region via remote control codes - any one with any info please?
No, Sony systems require them to be chipped etc, so no remote hack I'm afraid.
I heard a rumour that there is a special Sony remote that can hack their players. I dont know if this is true though, doubt it to be honest.
[EDIT] Yes, Sonys can be hacked, but you need a special reomote control do do it. I'll try and find out more later but right now I have to go to work :brickwall
[EDIT #2] Try here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Sony%20DAV-S500) for a few ideas
Yes sony all in one systems can be hacked as long as it is after the davs 300 you can do it through a remote from dvdchips i think they are called. :)

I have just made my Sony DVP-NS300 multiregion, via my Palm and the link to the website above. Therefore I guess a chip isn't required for Sony's, or at least my model, or a special remote...
Not sure if this helps though, as I notice you're talking about an all in one system.
