Help-Old dear wants to buy a DVD
Question:

:help:
Hi folks,
My old dear want to buy a DVD player for under £100. I'm not that clued up on these things and was wondering if anyone knows any decent web-sites to look at. Does not necessarliy have to be region free, so long as its under £100, plays through a normal TV, and half decent. Also, is there anything in particular I should be looking out for in terms of what should/should not come with it?
Please help if you can.
Cheers

I bought a friend a Cyberhome player from WHSmith last Christmas. It sells for £79.99, though there is a link in the bargain forum for 10% off online. It can be made region free with a handset hack, so any disc you throw at it will play, it plays mp3 cd's too. It comes with all the cables in the box if I remember correctly.
Other than that, Amazon have cheap players available (use the link at the top of the forum page), and Richer sounds have players starting from £50.

amazon sell the Pioneer DV-350 for £99.99 delivered - very good player. Looks nice too. :)

Yep, I'd go with the Pioneer as well, quality piece of kit and a bargain at 100 bucks. :)

I'd do the obligatory widescreen explanation before you go any further... :)
Otherwise you'll get the usual howls of outrage "why do all the films have black bars on them" :dork:
