Question:
I've been noticing a problem with my TV set - a definite purple hue in the bottom right corner of the screen. I thought there must have been something magnetic nearby but I checked my speakers and every other component and couldn't find anything. Then I realised that my television is right near the cupboard with the electricity meter in it!!
So does anyone know if you can buy material to magnetically shield the cupboard and protect the TV?

Not an expert on this but an earthed metal cage might do the job.
Also try switching your TV off at the mains, then back on again several times (with 10-20 min in between).
Your TV may only de-gause when powered up fully and not from standby.
