Thanks to the comments in this this (http://Here.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=179341) thread, I have decided to ditch my Gallo fixation and wait for the KHT2005 mk2 eggs as soon as they are released. :)
However, I've been bitten by the upgrade bug yet again and are looking to upgrade my Sony 1070 receiver to something better. I've been looking at reviews and opinions on both these amps and before I toddle off for a demo somewhere, I'm wondering if anyone here has any first hand experience with either of these amps (Justin?? :D)
My primary use will be for movies. Although I've heard the Denon shines in this format, the Pioneer excels at stereo reproduction. I'd like to strike a balance of the two, but multichannel output will always be of paramount importance. Aesthetically speaking, I'm not too sure about the gold finish on the Denon (black is not an option), but the sexy finish on the Pioneer will match my DV-747a player a treat.

I have a 811 Pioneer which is the more basic 6.1 reciever (the 2011 is 7.1) and love it. I think Ed has the 2011?
Im suprised you have given up on the Gallos based on that thread splobber!
Anyway I am in the same boat as you. I was thinking about the Gallos, but first I am going to upgrade my amp to one of these 2.
The auto set up on the Pioneer is supposed to be good, but I am swaying towards the Denon as it has lip synch delay and video conversion up. Both of which will be useful for my projector.
Im sure they are both excellent amps though.
My 3803 is lovely. I would say the opening of the Mummy is about 4 times more impressive than the already breathtaking 3802.
I've been bitten by the upgrade bug too and am thinking about selling my Pioneer 2011 to upgrade to a Tag processor + Rotel poweramp. Splobber would you be interested?
:suspect: Maybe, not usually one for buying second hand stuff but how much would you be looking for it? How old is it, condition etc. Is it available in silver? Do I get a discount for being a forum member? I expect a scart lead to be thrown in as well. :D

Cheers for all the replies so far, just spoken to dtsrules and he's very happy with his 2011. Still got my eye on the Denon though, as the multi room capability has got the missus interested so that she can listen to S Club in the kitchen.

If I do decide to sell it then I'll put it on the classifieds (I'll be after £650 collected, which is a £100 saving). Shouldn't have too much trouble shifting it as I've had a few emails already. FYI, the machine is under 5 months old and in as new condition and perfect working order (well you've seen and heard it in action so you know!). :)

There does seem to be a premium on the Pioneer over the Denon although from what Ive read so far they seem to be on a par on performance.
Has anyone done a side by side comparison on these 2 amps?
Its a fair price for Henrys amp as it sounds fantastic and he looks after his equipment :thumbs:
