Question:
Hi,
This is my 1st post, so please be gentle with me!:)
I just got a new amp (Yamaha dspax630se) and speakers (2 floorstanding fronts, centre and 2 bipolar rears (no sub yet)).
My amp does "matrix 6.1" which you can either set to Auto, or you can set it to matrix 6.1 all the time.
Do you guys leave yours set to matrix all the time when watching normal 5.1 dd/dts?
If so, what does it do to the sound? Does it just "ghost" a centre speaker for smoother movement across the back, etc?
I ask as I'm not too keen on using DSP fields or whatever they're called (like hall/jazz,etc.) but maybe this isn't the same thing?
Thanks for any advice you can give me as I'm a bit of a newbie to this, having just upgraded from my old Digitheatre DTS.
Twicenightly.
I leave my Pioneer set to 6.1 Fixed all the time, however I do have a surround back speaker so I am not sure what happens if you only have the 5 main speakers.
aye, I leave mine in 6.1 all the time, I think it then takes any noise which is the same from the back L/R and puts it to the back centre instead, makes a pretty good job of it too (SOny 1070 btw).
