Laptop to TV: its B&W!
Question:

I'm trying to connect a laptop to TV via S-Video to Scart
I've got the correct leads, but its coming out as black & white.
I've checked the NTSC/PAL settings, they're OK - any ideas??

Answers:

Sounds like your TV is expecting composite on the SCART. S-video sends luma on the connection normally used for composite and splits off chroma onto another pin - hence, if your TV is expecting composite, it will display the correct picture but without the chroma (colour). One of two reasons why this is happening:
1. You've set it up to receive composite rather than S-video
2. The SCART input does not support S-video

Thanks......so that does that mean the TV is too old or something..??

Answers:

Not necessarily. If it does support S-video on that SCART, you will still have to tell it to expect that rather than composite. If it doesn't accept S-video on that SCART, it may well do on another (my TV has one S-video SCART and one RGB SCART and is rapidly approaching 10 years old.)
Good luck,
