can anyone tell me why many home theatre systems lack a scart or two? i was thinking of pana dcs303 but was told it has no scart. is this correct?. is scart not the optimum connection??

Almost all current "all in one" systems don`t have a scart. The simple reason for this is that they are all designed with the American and jap market, then the same models are released in eurpe a few months later.
Some manufacturers are now taking note, for example JVC and Panasonics HT75 have scarts, although the panasonic didn`t offer RGB out so pointless.
You`ll be pleased to hear that most manufacturers are now including fully wired scart (RGB) on their new machines, for example Pioneers NSDV1000 has one, sonys new DAVS30 does also, and the new panasonics should also.

I have the Samsung HTDM150 and is one of the few that has a beautifully vivid RGB scart display but no s-video at all. Personally I find Scart RGB miles better than s-video and so would never consider a system with just s-video anyway.
