Question:
Apologies if this has been done to death. Did a search...
Now, to show off my system (which I'm not going to post here as it's probably pathetic) I normally play the start of The Fast & The Furious in DTS (or Gladiator).
I've found the thing most people are impressed by is the Yamaha piano DTS "trailer". Now, I've seen the VOB files on the net you can download of the DTS "trailers" but the best I've managed to produce is a dodgy VCD copy of them.
Is there such a thing as a DTS Demo DVD which will shake the windows and wake the neighbours?
T
Edit: Speelling...
Yes, there is (the latest version is Disc 7) unfortunately DTS only give them to AV dealers AFIAK. I managed to buy a copy a couple of years ago but that was a one-off. You may find a copy or two advertised on e-bay.
Cheers. Have seen some on an Austrian website bit they're £40-ish. Cheaper just to buy all the best DTS DVD's!
T
A few years ago, I phoned DTS UK, told them I was a dealer and they sent me Demo #4 and Demo #5.
Might be worth a try!
They are well impressive, especially The Eagle's Hotel California and Saving Private Ryan at 1500Kbps DTS (full bit rate). [The R1 DTS version of SPR is only 750Kbps]
If my mate ever gets DVDXCopy to work on his new PC with burner then he's going to make a backup for himself.
Cheers, don't have their number to hand do you?

Sounded okay but looked rubbish. Does your mate want to do some more and sell them here? I bet he'd shift a fair few!

I'd certainly be interested if this was done.
Gram99 did a few of those on here not long ago. I bought one and it's very good for a demo. :)
Hi,
I've found some brilliant DTS demos available for download free from the net. They are audio only though. THey are encoded in DTS 44.1 so you just burn them to a CD like audio and play them in your DVD player - don't play them on a CD player!! eeeek!
http://www.sr.se/multikanal/english/e_index.stm
It is the Swedish Radio Multichannel section. The clips are in DTS and DD - but DTS is better! :-)
The best clips I think are :
The History of Sound
Pontus Enhorning presents...
The car chase
Electronics for beginners
(they are in English too! :-) )
I've spoke to my mate about burning some copies. If you want to drop me a PM with your details on we'll sort something out
I made a DVD by downloading loads of VOB files from the internet. All sorts of good DD/DTS stuff. Just used up loads of Bandwidth!!
I'd also recommend people to purchase the "Eagles - Hell Freezes Over" DVD - excellent sound (and great music too!).
Cheers
Phil
Zac,
Tried to e mail you but your account is full.

Any chance you could mail me some info also, I did the same as timmustill with the dodgy VCD and wish I had a DVD writer now.

Thanks Phil, I did a price check and found it for £10.24 from them or just under £10 form CineDVD in Brasil. Used Cine before, but I don't know why it comes up as region 0. Think I may just go with Ezy to be safe.

Yes (http://www.musiczone.co.uk/store_locator.html)
Woo-hoo, cheers for that, there's one in Glasgow, I'll pop in this afternoon and get it.
If your are looking for one of the best sounding DTS discs then look no further than Steely Dan's Two Against Nature. I first saw and heard this disc at the What HiFi Bristol Show in 2002, and was blown away. It made such an impression on me that as soon as I left the Marriot Hotel where the show was being held I went straight to the nearby shopping centre and purchased a copy. Even if your not a great fan of this band I guarantee you will not be dissapointed.
