LA Confidential DVD Rot
Question:

About a year and a half ago i bought LA Confidential from EzyDVD. I watch it about 3 times in the first 5 months and everything was fine. I came to watch it tonight and at the point the layer changes the disk just crashes the player.
I started reading on the web and found some stuff about DVD rot and it said LA Confidential was one of the affected disks.
I've long since thrown away the receipt and confirmation emails.... any ides what i can do about getting the disk replaced.....
has anyone else had a similar problem??
cheers
Andy

If the disc has just gone cloudy was it in warm water, dry it completely and that should be that, it happened to me on T1 and all is now well. Hope this helps.

Have tried this on a couple of my disks that were causing problems and it got them working again, so worth a try.
You probably have no hope in getting the retailer to change it unless it is within 28 days of purchase as people here in the UK found with the Terminator problem.
Only hope is with the distributor but as you bought from Aus I don't think Warner will replace it as you don't live there. From my time at the Forum only people who replace for foreigners are Anchor Bay US as they have had a number of faulty disks.
Sorry can't be of more help. At least its only around £7 to replace.

Oddly, this has also happened to me once... the r1 LA Confidential (happened ages ago and has never happened to me since)

There are no marks on the disk as such.... i've looked in various lights and can't see a single mark.... but it happens on every player i've tried it in.... so i've no idea.
Thanks for the ideas though... i might give it a try just to see what happens.... i've got nothing to lose!
