Question:
I have a Phillips 28” Widescreen TV with a built in Dolby Digital Decoder and Surround Speakers.
Is it possible to get DTS sound out of my TV speakers?
My DVD – Toshiba 220 has a DTS out and Coaxial or Optical outs
The TV has only a COAXIAL input.
Can I get an amp or decoder and get the DTS out to that and then back into the TV?
Any help appreciated
Duff info so deleted!

Dave Um, no..
Grego - You're TV can't Decode DTS anyway, so unless you can find a DTS/DD amp/receiver that has a digital output, I think you're screwed..
You're TV speakers are not doing the sound justice anyway, so why not go the whole hog and buy an offboard amp & a set of 'proper' speakers..
So... im looking for a DTS amp or decoder that has a COAX digital out --- does such a beast exist?
Ive thought about going the whole hog and getting a full system but -
1) i quite like the fact the speakers are wireless - so no clutter
2) the TV is in a fairly small room in a terraced house and it already has the ability to shake the walls and still sound clear so i think it would be overkill :)

It's the only way I could envisage you getting a decoded DTS signal to the TV, but..
a) I don't think such an amp exists..
&
b) I very much doubt it would work anyway..
Must say though, you ain't missing out on a lot, tbh.. :suspect:
it wouldn't work, at a guess the coax input would be into the built in 5.1 decoder, so it wouldn't know what to do with a dts signal. you can prove it by outputing DTS direct on your DVD to your TV via the coax. The effect would be the same as taking a DTS signal from an amp. no sound
As i suspected to be honest - Amp doesnt exist and TV would freak out if it did! :)
Thanks for the advice anyway folks
I just think im missing out because of all the hoo-har over DTS.... hope im not
Don't worry, you're not missing much. I've got a pretty decent system and generally the difference between DTS and DD is pretty minor, running it through a TV system like you have would most likely make the difference virtually unnoticeable.
And assuming such and amp did exist you'd just use the amp surely?
