Question:
My current cheapo wharfedale TV from Tescos has broken.
I am now tempted to buy the 32PW6006 from Unbeatable for about £470 (about the limit of my budget)
I have read a few reports about problems with the RGB input being too dark on these sets.
Has anyone bought one and had no problems?
Anyone recommend these sets or any alternatives?
Not had any problems with my 28PW6006 and it was a bargain price from unbeatable.co.uk at the time :)
The only bad(ish) thing is that the speakers in the TV aren't the best, but 90% of the time I'm using my AV setup for the sound anyway.
I've also got a 28PW6006 and I have seen some complaints about the RGB being too dark, but I've never seen any problem myself using a Warfedale 750S.
Sorry, but mine sucked the fat one from old ladies control briefs. It too was from Unbeatable, and although the RGB brightness was fine, it did suffer from some pretty annoying interference.
After 6 months of putting up with a 2inch wide vertical bar of brighter screen, and subtle noise in the shadows, I swapped her out for another one.
Same model, same problem...
(Then again, the 32PW6506 I replaced the replacement with is pretty much spazzed as far as geometry goes).
Some are lucky, some are not. Sorry gz.
Sorry to hear about yuor problems with it A², I hope it was just bad luck.
I don't want to spend endless days waiting for delivery men to pick up and drop off replacement TVs...
Can anyone perhaps recommend any other 32" TVs which are quite cheap?
i've got a 28" one and the interference is annoying as hell, even had the engineers take it away and try and fix it but they couldn't.
i get ghosting from whatever channel i had it on before switching to a av channel, the only way i get a decent picture is to turn on my video and put that on a AV channel so the screen is blank blue then change to the AV channel so i get a good pic, also cant have the brightness to high either otherwise you still get ghosting/streaking whatever you want to call it.
the interference only kicks in as soon as the tv detects RGB though.
I've owned two 28PW6006 sets.
Both were pretty solid sets and neither suffered from the RGB problems talked about here but they both had terrible horizontal geometry where the screen would noticeably slope from one side to the other. Plus the picture quality just isn't that great on the Philips, I found it to be harsh looking and grainy.
Having said that the 32 inch version has a picture rotation option plus a better tube so these issues might not effect you.
Can't make up my bloody mind,. unbeatable haven't got any stock in anyway and it is a lot more expensive everywhere else.
Just missed out on an auction on clearance-comet site too :(
Maybe I will have to make do with a 28" box...
Gotta be said mate,
Apart from the interference thing (which doesn't seem to affect all sets) she had a lovely picture.
Whilst its a pain to have to babysit service engineers, Unbeatable did take my unit back and refund me when they couldn't cure this issue.
Worth a thought. Your set might be fine.

Just bought an ex-rental Philips 32" widescreen and stand for 290 quid instead, comes with one year warranty and a brand new remote.
Can't grumble really.
