E30/50 DVD-RAM VCR editable via PC ?
Question:

I'm about to purchase a Panasonic E50 DVD-RAM video recorder, and was wondering whether the files on the disc can be edited on a PC and then rewritten back to the DVD-RAM and still be playable on the recorder?
Failing that is it possible to simply extract the mpeg stream for editing?
I'm assuming there are a few E30 owners out there that have tried.

Yes you can, you will need a DVD-R/DVD-RAM writer on the PC of course! Why write back to RAM disks though? Write back to DVD-R.

I've got a DVD-RAM drive already in the PC, so that's no problem.
Do I need any special video format conversion software? My DVD-RAM drive was supplied bare and without any software.

I'm not actually doing this myself (yet!) so I only know what I've read on the net, most of which I've forgotten!
I seem to remember that it involves renaming the files and then editing the file to remove adverts etc.
I'm sure if you do a Google search you will find loads of stuff about it.
