Best Prices on Plasmas?
Question:

Anyone have reliable and cheap suppliers of Plasma's?
Pref - 40-42" Pioneer/Panny's
Thanks

Answers:

looking right now empiredirect.co.uk seem to be best
but the pioneer has a tuner but the panny's don't so you need to be careful

www.itl-computers.co.uk is usually good with this sort of stuff, they also do projectors.

Having a laugh with that link aren`t you? Eight and a half grand for a 50" pioneer HDE? Come on!

hmm.. how good are Rear Projection TV's?
I saw a Toshiba 42" Rear Projection for £1050 wtf!!! (empiredirect)
Is that good or are these crap?

Samsung 42" is this good? The Panny and Pioneer's are quite expensive.. (well very) the Samsung at under £2500 is not exactly cheap by other standards but seems good for a 42"incher..
I'm not anal about image quality but as a HDTV comments on this would be welcome.. I here that Samsung are the best at LCD/Plasma manufacturing (if that has anything to do about it) my LCD 19" PC monitor is Samsung (very good - but also the cheapest in i's class) hmm

I saw quite a few plasma's at the bristol sound & vision, and the panasonics and pioneers consistently looked the best...but the new fujitsu's(sp?) didn't look too bad.
but the 43" pioneer hde version sounds like the best at the mo...but its yea its expensive, and i'm not sure if i need the tuner box, and if I don't the panasonic might be better...
theres also the Philips 42PF9964C and the Hitachi C42PD3000
in the same price range, but can't find as much about them.

Stick to a manufacturer that actually develops and produces their own screens. Theres only really Panasonic, Pioneer, NEC and Fujitsu that develop and produce screens, everyone else uses said screens but produces their own electronics to drive them, with less then ideal results...
Best plasmas without a doubt for brightness and contract are the Pioneers and Panasonics - you get what you pay for at the end of the day....

The Pioneers and Panasonics are consistently rated as not being better than the competition - but miles ahead. At the moment I wouldn't consider anything else.

Well I will vouch for the Panny -- it is the Biz

Yup. Go for the pana if you want high contrast, go for the pioneer if you want high brightness (more natural picture).
I`ve owned both brands and would not recommend any other screen, just make sure you get a full UK model with manufacturers on site warranty (price they sell for gives this away!).
