cheap subwoofer to amp lead
Question:

Does anyone know what type of lead I need to connect my Eltax subwoofer to my Pioneer DSX 510 amp, and of any good websites where I can get a good quality lead for a cheapish price??
Many thanks

Answers:

Yeah, loads; try hificables.co.uk or cable-shop.co.uk, they're great.
You should try QED SW-SR cable or IXOS ones.

So what type of lead do I actually need to connect the subwoofer. I couldn't find the QED SW-SR

Answers:

A Subwoofer lead usually a single lead with phono to phono termination plugs.
Go to Cable-shop and search under subwoofer cables, prices range from £8.95 to £75.99 depending upon length of cable.
Don't bother with anything cheaper than those. Sub-woofer cables are designed to cater for low frequencies so get the best one you could afford.:)

ramit - I asked for such a cable at AudioT recently & being a reg customer one of their "fitters" grabbed a brand new double phono to double phono lead & split it down the middle & handed me one half! Might be a cheaper alternative to a "special" sub lead ... Paul ;)

Does it really make a huge difference ?
Mind you I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to paying for expensive cables and pretty ignorant on the subject!
My active Sony sub came with a REALLY thin phono to phono cable - the type you get from Tandy for 50p - and it sounds fine to me? - if I shell out £10 on a "proper" cable do you really think I will be able to tell the difference?
Actually now I look at some of the cable sites I can see that a "proper" cable for a sub can cost over £150
