Would i notice any difference if i upgrade my free cable to a £10 one?

Are you talking about optical for recording or playback? If recording then I very much doubt it as the MD does compression on the incoming signal so the benefit from a better optical cable probably will be lost. For playback depending on the quality of the free optical you may gain a little, but with optical cables you don't gain too much as its a digital bitstream being passed and the bits either get there or they don't IMO!

Yeah Kryten is right, even if optically there was some enhancement, you wouldn't notice it.
I found that a better cable made it easier to recognise track breaks, than the one that came with mine.
That'll teach me to skip straight to the end of a thread. :gag:
